Russian Manicure: Technique, Cuticle Care and Questions to Ask

A Russian manicure is commonly used to describe a dry manicure with detailed work around the nail using an electric file. Salon terminology and individual techniques vary. The name alone does not establish a technician’s training, the steps used or the suitability of the service for your nails.

The current iNAILS menu does not list Russian manicure as a separate service. This guide explains questions to ask; it is not a confirmation that this technique is available. Call (843) 482-0203 if you have a specific service request.

Does removing more cuticle mean healthier nails?

No such benefit should be assumed. The American Academy of Dermatology advises against cutting or forcefully pushing back cuticles because of infection risk. A close polish line is an appearance preference, not evidence of better nail health.

This technique should not be promoted as a way to prevent infection or guarantee stronger growth. If a service hurts or irritates the skin, tell the technician and stop the affected step.

What should you ask before a detailed manicure?

  • What exact steps are included, and what work is done around the cuticle?
  • What relevant training does the technician have?
  • How are tools and work areas cleaned between clients?
  • Which polish or enhancement product will be used?
  • How should that product be maintained and removed?
  • What is the expected appointment length and complete price?

Bring a photo of the finish you like, but discuss how it can be achieved without assuming every technique shown online is suitable for you. Wear time varies; a technique name does not guarantee several weeks without lifting or chipping.

What manicure options are listed at iNAILS?

The published manicure menu lists a Classic Manicure at $30 and a Gel Manicure at $45. The enhancement menu includes acrylic, Gel X, builder gel and Hybrid/Tap options. Prices may change and add-ons may cost extra.

Use these named menu services when planning an appointment, and confirm any special technique or brand with the salon.
